No. You only need a permit to be able to reach the summit. You can either apply for it in advance on the National park’s website or obtain it by booking any of our hiking activities.
If you have an ascent-only ticket, please note that as of 29 November 2024, you must obtain a permit to descend on foot via one of the trails that require it: PNT 07 Montaña Blanca - La Rambleta, PNT 09 Teide - Pico Viejo - Mirador de las Narices del Teide, PNT 23 Regatones Negros, PNT 28 Chafarí. This can be carried out through TenerifeON. Failure to present the required permit will result in being denied access to the ascent-only service. You must also take into account the mandatory equipment required by the Island Council’s Natural Environment, Sustainability, Safety and Emergencies Department. Users, hikers and mountaineers are required to carry a minimum set of essential equipment, including appropriate footwear and warm clothing. This is in addition to other necessary basic items for potential risk situations in winter conditions on mountains at high altitude: suitable mountain footwear, warm clothes, a thermal blanket, water, a mobile phone with a charged battery and a headlamp or torch.
